Remedies for Kidney stones

USA 12 September 2012. A Kidney Stone is a Calculus in the kidney also known as renal calculus. These stones are made up of concentrated substances which are present in urine, like uric acid, phosphates, calcium and oxalic acid.


Signs and symptoms: Kidney stones cause nausea, vomiting, urgent urination with little quantity of urine, the pain is intense and comes on suddenly; the pain is first felt in the side, then in the groin and thighs, painful burning urination, fever with chills and patient doesn’t feel comfortable in any position.


The small stones can be dissolved and passed out through urine by the administration of Natural Home remedies-


If there is a pain while passing a kidney stone, then put alternate hot and cold applications to the kidney area. For this, use a hot water bottle and an ice bag.


Coconut water is advisable in burning and scanty urine.


Take Watermelon juice after adding ¼ teaspoon of Coriander powder (Coriandrum sativum). Watermelon contains good amount of water and is a diuretic.


Take Barley water regularly.


Avoid drinking apple juice.


Avoid eating meat.


Lime juice is advisable.


Make a paste of a tablespoon of Pomegranate seeds (Punica granatum). Add this paste to one cup of horse gram soup and drink it.


Smear Tulsee leaves with honey and eat the same for 3 to 6 months.


Take 100 to 150mg of vitamin B6 with other B complex vitamins regularly.


Decoction of Kutkhi (Horse gram) is advisable.


Take fresh Pomegranate juice regularly.


Drink Tulsee Tea if available.


Increase the intake of Vitamin A by eating sweet potatoes, pumpkin, Broccoli. Do not take excess of Vitamin A as this can have other harmful effects.


Avoid processed food.


Mix olive oil and lemon juice and drink it.


With the consultation of a doctor, limit the quantity of protein in your diet.


Reduce the intake of salt.


Boil two figs in a cup of water. Drink this in the morning for about two months.


People, who eat foods rich in oxalic acid, have a tendency to form stones. Hence avoid it.


The decoction of Gokhru (Tribulus terrestris or Small Caltrops) and Pashanbhed (Bergenia ligulata) are advisable.


Mix the powder of Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Gokshur and Coriander. Take it twice daily. If powder is not available take herbal supplement.


The restricted food items are peas, beetroot, cauliflower and eggs when one has Kidney stone issues.
